I’m going to share with you my story of Carol. Carol was a collector of mine, an early collector when we were sitting on the lawn at her house in Davis, California, sitting on her white Adirondack chairs, sipping Arnold Palmers, which is iced tea and lemonade.

And she said, “Why aren’t you a full-time artist? You’re so talented.” And I said, “I don’t know.”

I just don’t even know. I don’t even know. I don’t know. I didn’t know. So here’s the big favor that Carol did for me, and I’ll pass along to you. She just asked me a really simple question. “How much art do you need to sell in 12 months to make a living?”

“Huh? I never thought about it. Why?” Because I still thought I had a career and I didn’t remember I had a business.
